meet the maker

hi, i’m molly.

I’m the face behind all things Coyote Crafted. I live in the red rock desert of Moab, Utah with my amazing partner and our rez dog rescue Fisher. I spend all my time wandering in muddy rivers, sandstone canyons and dusty dirt roads. And crafting handmade jewelry and prints inspired by those adventures, of course.

The way I currently run my business: I will create a small batch of 10-30 pieces of jewelry and release them in a shop update on a specific date/time. If you want to stay up-to-date with my shop releases, please sign up for my newsletter. You can always find my original photography, collage and digital drawings as prints and postcards in my shop. For a list of where you can find my creations please see my page stockists. For more about who I am, read on below!

from the suburbs of new jersey, to the coasts of new hampshire, to the rivers of utah.

I’m originally from New Jersey, where I was lucky enough to be shown the national parks of the west from my flight attendant parents. I went to college in New Hampshire and got a bachelor’s of science in Environmental Conservation Studies and met my now fiance. :) I mostly worked as a coastal research assistant and sea kayak guide. Until one day I read a quote that would change my life and push me to chase a life-long dream of being a river guide in Moab, Utah…

...the risk of spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet you can buy yourself the freedom to do it later.
— Randy Komisar

“Then there is the most dangerous risk of all…”

In the spring of 2018, my partner and I sold everything we owned, bought an empty cargo van and moved to Moab, UT to be raft guides on the Colorado River. We lived in that van for over 2 years. It taught me indispensable lessons on risk-taking, living simply, and how little I need to be happy in this life. To learn more about this chapter of my life and how it influenced my decision to start my business, check out my interview with Shoutout Colorado here

joy is…

  • dirt roads on two wheels

  • floating on muddy rivers through sandstone canyons

  • quality time with my partner and our pup

  • a lot of time alone…doing nothing but feeling the sun on my skin or wandering through a wash looking for bones.

  • connecting with other creative women on outdoor adventures

  • reading memoirs and non-fiction about the desert and the people who have called it home. authors like: terry tempest williams, ellen meloy, katie lee.

  • road trips to places i’ve found while scouring google earth for the correct amount of cacti species near by.

I’d like to take a moment and acknowledge that while I derive so much of my inspiration from this desert, and call it home…I am living on stolen land and am only a mere visitor that finds a deep sense of solitude and identity in this landscape. As a visitor of this land, I commit to doing my best to protect it and raise awareness about conservation or cultural issues of importance.
